Lucene search

Is anyone out there using Lucene search? When AC first came out, we had a couple of sites that created duplicate order numbers during high-volume times when Lucene was turned on. Does anyone know if that is still a problem?
Thanks

Are you asking if this bug still exists in the latest version? I remember something about it, but it was so long ago now.

Yes, that is what I was asking. The one site that has problems is an R2 site. I didn't want to recommend that this other merchant try Lucene if the bug still existed.

I did some searching and found an issue which I think is the one you are concerned about.

Issue ID AC8-1648 - Lost order when two are placed at the exact same time
This happened with the checkout code and the failed orders feature. Duplicate order numbers were created during high-volume times...

This was a major bug in Gold R3, fixed in Gold R4.

Most of the old Lucence issues relate to search results being off. Most of those are relatively minor, and nothing recent has come in for Lucence.
I don't recall an issue with orders and Lucene specifically, but my memory is not as sharp as it once was.

The site that is running R2 is likely having trouble if they are using Lucene. There was a major issue in that release, AC8-1720: lucene indexes become corrupted under high load

I don't know if this helps, but that's what I know.

Thanks
Katie

Thanks, Katie. This does help tremendously. We have found that each of the search platforms have quirks depending on the merchant's content and what they results they want from their searches so we recommend that they try the different options to see what works the best.

I should mention that a new bug was reported and confirmed in the latest version. If you are trying to search orders and use the 'KEYWORD' search by PRODUCT NAME or SKU, then you will get some strange results with paging and the number of results shown on each page. It doesn't seem to matter which search engine is selected. This was reported a few weeks ago.

Just thought you might want to know.
