Random DEMO mode on LIVE license with DEMO disabled

Post by dssimmons » Fri Nov 22, 2019 5:37 pm

Hi, We are running VERSION: 7.0.92.9476, Release Label: GoldR12SR2. We have a current LIVE license and DEMO mode is disabled. We've been on AC since 2011. In that time, we've had 41 orders randomly be overwritten with DEMO in all the order address fields. However, 28 of those have been this year since we updated our code to the 9476 release. Does anyone have any insight on why this is occurring and how to prevent it?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

It's not possible for this to happen.

Please check again to make sure that the installation is not using a DEV license.

Configure > Security > Licensing.

Thanks

I am sorry, but this is definitely occurring. Live License, current subscription, demo mode disabled. I can provide 41 instances of this happening since 2011. 28 this year, 6 this month to date.

License Type: LIVE
Subscription: Ends on 23-Mar-2020
Registered Domain(s): www.osmosisbeauty.com

Demo Mode
Your license is registered to the domain(s) listed above, and one of these must used to access the store site. You can also configure your store to run in a non-expiring demo mode. In demo mode any domain may be used to access the store site, but order billing and shipping addresses will not be recorded.

Demo mode is currently DISABLED. You must use a registered domain to access your site. To turn on demo mode, click below.

I know this must be frustrating, but I've never seen anything like this happen in all the years I've been here.

The checkout page has been customized, but what doesn't make any sense is the randomness. If the license or code were an issue, then all orders would be coming in with DEMO, DEMO.

Is there anything different, or out of the ordinary, with the installation?

In other words, you have a single install running with no backup or fail-over server that would kick in if the main site were having trouble.

Another thing you might try is looking at the customer records for the orders where this happened. Try to determine if there is a pattern or something that happens to these orders that is different than the working ones. Also, if you have activity logging enabled, you can trace the path the user has taken through your store and checkout. This information would be available from the user record.

Let me know if you find anything.

Thanks,
Katie

Nothing out of the ordinary on the installation and no discernible pattern on the instances for which this is occurring.

I'm sorry, but I have absolutely no idea how this could happen. The same licensing code has been in use for several years now.

What I would suggest is that you purchase an hour of technical support, and we can have a developer look at this. Access to the server may be necessary.

If we do find some issue with our code, then a full refund will be guaranteed.
