What is the latest .Net framework version supported by older releases?

I have a couple older clients on older R6 and R9 builds (highly customized) and would like to update the target framework to 4.8.

The ultimate plan is to upgrade to AC 9.X in the near future. Is this even supported for versions older than Gold R10?

The upgrade page only shows instructions for R10-R12 Gold to upgrade to AC 9.X.

The minimum recommended version is Asp.Net 4.6.2 for AC Gold

I did see that page and it shows 4.6.2 is recommended and also has minimum version 4.0 specified, but I was asking whether the latest 4.8 framework has been used/tested.

I could just change and test, but I know I wouldn’t be able to successfully test all web functionality and CommerceBuilder api/classes.

I believe .NET framework 4.8 is backward compatible for earlier versions of .net frameworks. So, there should be no issue if you update to target .net framework 4.8.

The AC Gold is not officially tested for .net framework 4.8, but it should work.
