Export Products with Product Templates

Hello Community and Able Team,
Is there a way to extend the product Export function to include the values from the product's associated product templates? Maybe have them be as extra columns? And control the amount of column expansion by exporting the products in batches, using the filter products screen to filter by similar products/categories.
When looking at the code, it looks like in the DataExchange/ProductSummary file there is a commented out "ProductTemplate" line and associated variable. And it looks like in DataExchange/ProductExportManager there is a commented out section related to the ProductTemplate. Is this something that can be used? Or is it commented out because it doesn't work?
