Tax is not applying

Post by mystore » Thu Nov 15, 2007 3:37 pm

For some reason tax isn't calculated upon checkout. I've already made sure that the shipping is to the State that's supposed to be taxed, but it still doesn't work.

Here's what I've already done:

1. Made sure the item that's in the cart has been checked as "taxable".
2. Created a tax rule and checked off "shipping" as the determining factor in tax eligibility.
3. Checked off "Taxable" for the Tax Codes.

I've also tried putting in the zip codes into the tax rule, and it still didn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

Nevermind, I figured it out. Apparently when I changed the item to "taxable", I had to remove that item and add it back into the cart again for the rule to apply.

That value, as well as warehouse, is stored locally [edit: local to the basket record] to improve the performance of certain basket operations. The behavior you describe is true, but less than ideal. I have logged a bug #6060 to have it investigated.

Hi Everyone,
I think it would be better to have the tax default On instead of Off as dont most sites sell products that are Taxable in some way? I wonder what others think?

I agree. Adding products is already a dreaded chore. One less click while doing so will definitely be appreciated. :D
