Developer version vs. Production version

Post by Joe Simper » Tue May 13, 2008 11:07 am

Some questions regarding the developer version of AbleCommerce 7:
  1. What are the differences between the developer version and the production version?
  • Are some features disabled in either version?
  • What are the ramifications of using the developer version in a production environment?
Thanks!

I am not sure about developer version vs. production version. Do you mean the demonstration version?

A lot of times, merchants who purchase the application will request a developer key. This key is registered to a domain that corresponds to a local development environment.

We also have the demo version, which does not record customer information in the orders.

If you purchase a license, we have added a feature to the RC3 version that lets you switch your store into a permanent, non-expiring demo mode for development purposes.

This is what I mean. Is there a code/feature difference in the store when using a developer key as opposed to the production key?

In that case, no. The developer key lets you use the fully functional software against a local domain (e.g. 192.168.1.10).
