From what I have noticed here.

The calculator on Able 7 is based on business quotes. I want the ability to force all residential.

In the other software I have worked with this is an option in the GUI.

After a little more research....and common sense.

It's based on what you select when checking out. I would like to leave this option out of my customers hand and default everyone to resi.

Still working on the negotiated rates issue. I don't know how many hours I've spent with UPS tech support on this one.

Is there anyone here successfully retrieving negotiated rates with UPS? I would dearly love to know.

I must also ask the AC staff, respectfully, has the UPS online rating tool been successfully tested with negotiated rates?

Here are a few things we've learned in the last month:
- Our online account had to be configured by UPS to receive negotiated rates. Just because we have an account with UPS and receive a discount did not mean our login was set up properly.

- International rates can be either non-document rates or document rates. The AC rate request appears to be a document rate request. It can be necessary to have UPS configure your account to receive negotiated rates on both document/non-document.

Unfortunately, we are still unable to receive our negotiated rates. I can log in to our account at UPS and generate a ship quote and receive our discounts. We have confirmed our account is set up properly with UPS. I've gone through the AC log file line by line and it appears the request is being sent correctly but we still cannot receive our discounts. Something, somewhere, is not working though.

We are getting much closer to deploying our new eStore. We had high hopes we could offer our customers (international and US) their shipping costs online but it is starting to look like this won't happen. Anyone have any success stories?

Are you sure that AC is passing along your UPS shipping account # when requests are sent?

Yes. UPS tech support can see our requests coming in to their server based on the account number.

For US rates, yes, for international, no. UPS has asked our management to sign some contract addendums before they'll make any further account setup changes. I don't know what these new contract terms are though. It sounds like there are additional 'super secret' account settings within UPS' own software.

This has been a royal pain.

You need to use your UPS userid, password, and accountnumber. According to the contract docs I've read, AbleCommerce is supposed to send their userid and password and not dissemenate this information. This is completely contrary to the UPS API requirements and puts AC in a bit of a catch-22 situation. You may need to dig through the tables a bit to see where the information is stored.

Much of the negotiated rates responsibility lies with UPS. They need to make sure your UPS account is properly set up for negotiated rates. You'll need to make sure you've downloaded the UPS API tools as this seems to trigger something on their systems.

Addendum: You'll need your accesskey and make sure AccountActive is set to True in your gateway connection string.

I'm having the same kind of issue you originally had. Our rates that we see in AC are about 2-3$ higher from what I've seen. Where can the Gateway Connection string be found?

I have added the RateInformation/NegotiatedRatesIndicator
When I click the above link, i get a message saying that I am not authorized to view bug #7013. How do I get access? I'm having a similar issue with our negotiated rates not being displayed.

Take a look at your ac_ShipGateways table. You'll find a string that resembles this:

Code: Select all

UseDebugMode=True&UserId=YOURUSERID&Password=YOURPASSWORD&AccessKey=YOURUPSACCESSKEY&ShipperNumber=YOURUPSSHIPPERNUMBER&CustomerType=0&UseInsurance=False&UseTestMode=False&AccountActive=TRUE&EnablePackageBreakup=True&TestModeUrl=https%3a%2f%2fwwwcie.ups.com%2fups.app%2fxml%2f&LiveModeUrl=https%3a%2f%2fwww.ups.com%2fups.app%2fxml%2f&TrackingUrl=http%3a%2f%2fwwwapps.ups.com%2fWebTracking%2fprocessInputRequest%3ftracknum%3d%7b0%7d%26AgreeToTermsAndConditions%3dyes
Update the string to include your UPS account info. As always, make a backup first!
