ViewState and why AbleCommerce developers need to learn it.

Post by wforney » Sat Mar 07, 2009 4:13 pm

I'm going thru a lot of the code for the ConLib widgets and the admin finding TONS of ViewState bloat. For the love of my sanity, PLEASE learn how to use the page lifecycle properly... Here is an article you should all read.

I voted yes, not to be critical of the Able staff, but rather if there is an opportunity to improve the program it should be at least examined. The article was pretty much over my head as well. A comment from Able concerning the merits of the article would be welcomed as well.

I voted yes because that article is considered the definitive article on ViewState by many qualified people. It would be a good way to start work on this bug,

That bug report speaks for itself about the awareness of a possible problem.

Tagged as "enhancement" AND pushed out to the next version release.

I wouldn't hold your breath on how soon that one's gonna get fixed :P
