Custom Secondary Navigation

Post by wilhud » Tue Mar 31, 2009 12:57 pm

We've just recently started working with AbleCommerce and I'm trying to find a way to setup something that's unique to our store. I've setup all of our store categories and subcategories with things like apparel, dvds, etc. Our store specifically sells certain brand names (i.e. Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, John Wayne, etc.). Is there a way that I can setup these brands in the Able Commerce software and develop a custom secondary navigation with those brand names? That nav would need to take the user to a page where only items from that brand name would be listed.

I noticed there is a Manufacturers field. I could utilize that to set the brand names, seeing as we will not want to display the manufacturer names of our products. However, I'm not familiar enough with AbleCommerce yet, to know if that field would suffice for what I am trying to accomplish or if that would harm other functionality.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. If this has been asked before, I apologize, but I searched and could not find anything. I'm sure this type of request could be named various things though, so it's hard to know what to call it.

Thanks,
Wil

That would work well for what you want. A category page with the category search menu in the left nav would do that and you could also send users to the search page (product finder) with the manufacturer id in the url

Thank you both. So it sounds like my initial assumption of using Manufacturers for Brand names was correct. I'll have to work on getting that setup. Thanks for the link, as well!
