digital goods - manage digital goods - getting error

Post by marketingmaven » Tue Jul 21, 2009 1:53 pm

Hi:

I uploaded just over 500 mb worth of files to the app_data/digitalgoods file folder using ftp. I know they are there because I can see them with my ftp. However, when I go in from Abel Commerce via the Manage Digital Goods > Digital goods files I'm getting a server error. In the Manage Digital Goods they don't show up either.

Any suggestions out there?

cheers, marketing maven

Of the files you uploaded, do any have names that include characters like " or ' or something along those lines?
Cheers,
Logan

hi Logan: yes, I found a file with the word you're in it. The apostrophe must have caused the problem, because when I removed that one file, I could then see the digital files.

However, I still can't associate them with a product because although I can see the files from:

Administration > Manage > Digital Goods > Digital Good Files

I can't see the files from
Administration > Manage > Digital Goods > Manage Digital Goods

nor can I see them when performing a search in:

Administration > Manage > Digital Goods > Find Digital Goods

any suggestions? thanks, marketingmaven

The screen "Digital goods files" shows you the raw listing of the folder - the physical binary files available to AbleCommerce. But in order to use of these files you need to create the digital good. The digital good is a record in the database that contains info required by the store, as well as points to a physical file.

From digital goods files page, you can click the "add" buttton to create a new digital good associated with the file. You can also configure things like the display name of the digital good, download policies, licensing agreements, etc.
Cheers,
Logan
