Before we go live, it is likely we will need to change our hosting company from our old cart to our new AC one. I saw in one post (can't find it since I can't search for "SSL") that the transfer of a domain could cause this to be problematic.
At this time, my plan is to set up our production site using a temporary url and then switching over the domain name. Meanwhile, the site would continue to run at the prior webhost. But I'm worried that when we cutover, we won't have SSL in place at the new location because we can't get the certificate until the domain resolves to the new server.
1. Is it possible to get a new SSL certificate before www.MyStore.com resolves to the new server?
2. If not, can we get a temporary SSL certificate which will at least encrypt any private information until the domain name resolves and then apply for a real ssl certificate?
3. Are there better ways of handling the transfer.
