Better design for Checkout screen

A lot of returning Customers are getting confused when returning to
the site after placing their first order. I added code that fills in their
email address when they return, and that's going to help.
(see viewtopic.php?f=42&t=13686&p=58826#p58826 )

But an even better design would to have the Login Dialog right on the Billing page.
See pic for an example.
Can this be accomplished?

Hello,

Virtually all of the logic on the opc is exposed in the code. So it would be a matter of 'de-ajaxing' the shipping/billing form. Really anything is possible.

Perhaps a better question would be is 'how are your customers being confused?' What is causing them issues?

The people who know how to use the Web have no problem.

These types of customers are the problem:
  • people with no patience
    people who can't follow the simple instructions
    people who forget their password and can't follow the screens after
    people who forget that they created an account and can't follow the screens after
Bottom line : make the Checkout as easy as possible so the idiots go away.
