FedEx Stopped Working Today

We started to get the following error message this morning on our store:

00531 : FedEx Ship Manager API has been retired. Please use an alternate FedEx solution, or go to http://www.fedex.com/us/developer/migration.html for more information.

I had previously applied the FedEx patch a couple of weeks ago, noticed there was an update to it so I just applied that one, started/stopped the website, but still having the problem. According the patch instructions Here is the AC/FedEx version information from the About page.

You will have to go into the merchant control panel and configure the shipping gateway for FedEx Web Services. It seems like you might not have done that step yet? It also requires you to create new shipping methods. The existing shipping methods that you have are associated with the old service.

You are correct we have not done that, did not know that was needed. Is there just a new URL that replaces the current one that is the setup? Or do need to get resetup with FedEx?

So went out to FedEx and registered for Web Services, they gave me a meter number and this url - https://ws.fedex.com:443/web-services - so I entered those values into the configuration page and still not working.

They also gave me a production password, but there is no where to enter that the configuration page so I am unsure it needed?

Any other suggestions?

Does your configuration form look like this? If so then the key field is where you put your production key.

No, it was the old screen FedEx config screen. I tried to add a FedEx Webservice new carrier, but got some message on the screen about things to do "TO DO". So then I went back to the zip file and found some other files that I copied in the fedex folder and then was able to add a new FedEX web service carrier.

Guess I maybe should have know or checked, but I think the document could be updated to say that these other files must be updated and that you need to resetup a new carrier. Since only the dll filese where mentioned I thought the other files where not needed for since I was on the latest release already.

I'm down too, it sure would be nice that if an action is required on the Merchant's part that you E-MAIL US!!! I have the new DLL's in, cycled the site, still nothing for FedEx rates.

I have updated the help document so that it explains that there are additional steps necessary beyond installing the files. I hope this will prevent anyone else from having the same confusion. This is a completely new shipping provider rather than an update of the old one. An in place update was not possible because the new gateway does not use the same credentials nor does it use the same identifiers for the shipping services.

There was an entry made to our RSS feed so that merchants would be alerted, but I discovered it was made in the wrong file. It is unfortunate that this was missed and that is also corrected. In addition anyone using the old DirectConnect API should have been receiving regular notices from FedEx asking you to upgrade.
