Gift Message?

How would I enable a gift message or flag an item as a gift?

Say a customer wants to purchase a product and have it sent as a gift to someone, and add a gift message. How can that be done? Thank you.

ETA: I would like to be able to print the gift card serial number and send it to the customer, perhaps on the Packing Slip. How can this be done?

The code that displays the serial number should be available if you view an order with an active gift certificate.
