How to get PayPal orders to show in Google Analytics?
How to get PayPal orders to show in Google Analytics?
We've noticed that only the paypal orders do not get pushed to GA. We suspect it's the immediate page-redirect that occurs on the receipt page.
Is there any way to make that happen a few seconds after the page has loaded to give time for the GA code to fire?

As far as I know, there isn't a way to force a delay. To be honest, I would be afraid to make such a change because Paypal IPN is so difficult to work with as it is.
What happens if you set “Auto Return” to ON and enter the URL of your order invoice page?

I really don't know what happens. I can't test it because Paypal won't let me make a payment to myself. I don't know if Paypal orders get accounted for in Analytics or not.

Re: How to get PayPal orders to show in Google Analytics?
On our sites, some of the Paypal orders make it to Google Analytics and some do not.
Someone gave us this link, but I don't know if it helped or not. I didn't have access to their account and the site contact is on leave for a few months.

Re: How to get PayPal orders to show in Google Analytics?
I had shared a similar link http://www.lovesdata.com/blog/2010/trac ... fLbS5dGSqI in another thread to track PayPal orders for GA.
Re: How to get PayPal orders to show in Google Analytics?
I suspect this issue stems from the PayPal Express Checkout button in the mini-cart. This checkout process never gets to the standard AC checkout, therefore never gets to the confirmation page that GA uses to record the sale.
Re: How to get PayPal orders to show in Google Analytics?
I happened to be testing Paypal today, and I think that this could be happening because there is no way to force the customer to go back to your site after the payment is made. This would only apply to Paypal Standard (ipn).
EXPRESS CHECKOUT STEPS:
1) Leave Able and go to Paypal at the beginning of checkout (from the basket)
2) Login to PP and confirm your payment.
3) Return to Able's shipping page.
4) Go to Able's final payment page and confirm your paypal account.
5) Go to Able's receipt page.
The customer is logged into Paypal in advance, but the remaining part of checkout actually happens on the Able site.
In theory, Express checkout should be logging with Google analytics.
STD PAYPAL STEPS:
1) Stay on Able's site all the way through checkout until the final payment page.
2) Using the Paypal option, you will then leave to go to Paypal's site and login to PP and make the payment.
3) After you click the pay now button from Paypal's website, the customer see's a confirmation page.
If auto return is enabled, you should be redirected back to the Able MyOrder page, but this does not happen immediately. Paypal has some text that says "If you are not redirected within 10 seconds "click here".
I think this is where the customer may not be redirect automatically or they just decide to leave and go somewhere else. This might be where the tracking for that order is lost.
