Setup up digital goods gift certificate

Hi,
We want to set up gift certificates that will be delivered via email. We set up a "gift certifiicate product" but It appears that this also involves the use of "digital goods" but I can't find any documentation that clearly shows how this gets set up. I've checked the documentation and unless I've missed it I don't see how this is done.
I tried setting up a "digital good" gift certificate but it requires something to "upload".
We'd appreciate some help with this.

The digital good connection is not required in Able 7 as it was in Able 5. You just click the Gift Certificate box on the product edit page. You can also set the product to a variable price so that customer can purchase the value they want without your having to create set amounts for them to select from.

Thanks for the info! We had them setup as variable $ but just could not figure out the "whole picture". So, as it is.. we can electronically deliver the gift certificate to the buyer but no way to deliver it to the recipient directly?

Yes its like that right now. GiftCertificate could be sent to only buyer automatically.
