Special Pricing Rule

I'm looking for a way to give some benefits to the customer if they back order a product. Something like 10% discount or get a product free if the customer back order items that we don't have in stock.

Is there a pricing rule that can be set so that it can apply to certain products?

Well pricing rules are always product specific. You can't share a single pricing rule with multiple products, means you have to create pricing rules for each product. But there is no setting to make a pricing rule available only in case that product is out of the stock.

You could set up a coupon applied only to that product, one use per customer. Other people might be able to use it, but if you say it is a one-time, one-use coupon, the probably won't pass it on to their friends. Or you could create a different coupon for each order.
