Text on checkout page

Is there a way to eliminate the text for the verification code for AMEX on the payment page (text and the card image with the popup)?
Our client does not accept AMEX. They had a customer complain because they saw this text and tried to use AMEX.
We don't have AMEX set as a payment method so of course they could not use their card.

This is the text I am referring to.
"For American Express, enter the four digits in small print on the front of the card."
