Certain products available to selected group

Is there a way to restrict the availability of certain products to a group.

Not that I can find. I've wanted the same thing so I can create sample products so that only "registered" users can see/order them from the site.

You can create a 100% discount coupon for a specific product and allow that coupon to only be applicable for certain user groups. But the Checkout page still requires credit card information even if the order balance is zero. The only way around it I could figure was to create a "Phone Call" or "Mail" payment method and assign that method to the same user group.

But even still with all that setup effort, the product would be visible to everyone so I gave up on the concept. I'm going to have to code something to make it happen for my site. Item # 412 on my to-do list this week
