From the manual:
2. Give the Network Service (or ASPNET on 2000) user write permissions to the folder
where the AbleCommerce files are to be placed.
>> I'm using web hosting for this app. Can this still be done?
3. If you will be installing a license key, then make sure the key requested is associated
with the domain or IP used to access the install screen of AbleCommerce. If you do
not know what domain or IP is going to be used, you can update the license key after
the initial installation.
>> When I first install the app on the web server, I'm going to use a temp domain name
(because the one I eventually will be using is currently being used - I'm rebuilding
the store and will change it over when new site is ready)
so will this be a problem when I change the domain name later? thanks

2. You shouldnt have any issues..if you do your host can probably set that for you.
3. Dont install a key until you move the domain name over.

This is a requirement for any .Net 2.0 application - as long as your hosting provider is familiar with .Net 2.0 hosting this should not be an issue.Mike718NY wrote:From the manual:

Yes and No. You'll have to enable demo mode on the Configure page in the Admin side. Then you can run the site with any domain name. You won't be able to test payment processing though as the demo mode prevents billing/shipping address storage with orders.3. When you're ready to transition to the live domain, you *MUST* update the admin Configure page to reflect the new domain information FIRST, then you can move the site to the live domain IIS site. If you don't, the site configuration will point to one domain name and your URLs will all be pointing to a different domain name.

thanks fellas, . .

This could be a problem because I will need to run test orders and will need to
store test billing/shipping address.
I can create a test page to test the credit card processing I guess.
When I upload the site to the web hosting company, I will need the site to
not be in demo mode because I have to run test orders (using a temp domain name).
Can this done? I'm still a little confused. thanks
