7.0 Reporting Discrepancies

I have noticed some discrepancies in some of the reports and wondered if anyone has any information on this. If I look at my "monthly sales" and look at any specific day the total product sales is X dollars however when viewing the report that is for "product sales breakdown" the totals don't match. Does anyone know how these reports are programmed to generate?
