INSTALLATION webconfig fails

Post by bobr2k » Sat Nov 03, 2007 11:29 am

Browse to the <installpath>/install/default.aspx
that's where it dies:
Server Error in '/WeberDev' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, etc.

Hello Bob,

I think this error indicates you haven't installed all of the system requirements yet. If this isn't the issue please open a support ticket from the installation page of our help site, you'll find instructions in your welcome email that had the download instructions for AC7.

This is the one I think your missing: Microsoft Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0: Enables developers to build secure Web services based on the latest Web services protocol specifications.
Thanks for your support

I didn't think I needed that initially.

Optional Software Requirements

The following software is only required if using PayPal or Cybersource payment gateways.

1. Microsoft Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0: Enables developers to build secure Web services based on the latest Web services protocol specifications.

System.Web.Extensions is part of Microsoft Asp.Net Ajax v1.0, which you can download from here,

Source File: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\WeberDev\web.config Line: 87
==> INSTALL Microsoft Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0: for Microsoft Visual Studio® 2005
apparently NOT optional Nov 03, 2007 02:09 PM installed runtime only
THAT didn't do it ... install everything.
THAT didn't do it ... now I see in the readme C:\Program Files\Microsoft WSE\v3.0\readme.htm that Visual Studio should be running while installing. Guess I'll try a repair with VS running.
NOPE that didn't do it either

______________
any other ideas? I guess support isn't in until Monday? I'm trying to install local so they can't get to my machine anyway. :(

Hello Bob,

Yes support is out for the weekend but I did a search on google for 'Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions' and there are a number of solutions in the various forums.

Seems to happen frequently with VS2005.

A number of posts said to copy 'System.Web.Extensions.dll ' into the bin folder of your application. It said this would require full trust.
Thanks for your support

Just to be clear, System.Web.Extensions is part of MS Ajax, not part of Web Services Extensions.

AWRIGHT AWREADY ... a big thanks to afm for clarification ... it was the download AJAX that I missed in system requirements. (Actually, I thought all that stuff was already on the machine  )
I got past the initial error but got a new one ... will start a new topic because this one is getting cluttered.
THX TO ALL For your help! I have to repeat what I've "seen" others say ... this product/forum seems to have CONSIDERABLY more in depth help then "some" forums. 8)
