Can't connect to my test store
I've got AC7 installed on my test XP Pro box and I just got a new cable modem that will be for telephone also. The only way I can get out on the internet is to let it assign the IP address, where I had a static one set up before. I can get to my 5.5 test sites using localhost or 127.0.0.1, but I can't get to my AC7 install- it used to use localhost.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks

Yes, on the new test install I was putting in the license key- it's a developer license and I provided Able with my IP for it, and that hasn't changed.22., etc.
I didn't try the test install with a 30 day test key, though. But I did try the install on another computer I have Win 2003 Server on and it stops at the same place.
I still hate T-W cable phones.

Judy, it sounds like you're using the cable modem as your firewall.
You might consider picking up a cheap ($50) Linksys broadband router at Best Buy and putting it between your PC's and the cable modem.
Then you can control the DHCP on your LAN through the Linksys. I have both my development PC and my SQL PC set up for static IP, so neither the modem nor the Linksys can change it. This keeps my machines consistent with my development keycode from Able.
If the Linksys isn't an option, you could try noting the DHCP settings the cable modem gives you and populating your TCPIP with those same values as a static IP.
Did you install any software on your PC's that possibly came with the new cable modem? Some include McAfee firewall, free Norton etc.

I did get one step further. I was able to get my dev box back to a static IP.
I just tried your info in this post and I was able to re-enter the license key, but after that, it still won't display the site.

I've got a DLink wireless router and my dev box is connected to that via lan cable. I had to reinstall that software after they put the modem in so I will check the settings in that.
Windows Firewall is off, but Symantec says inbound firewall is secure and I can't see where to turn that off, but it's always been that way.
I'll keep plugging away. I just wasn't sure if Able monitors the license thru the internet and maybe there was a problem because I changed modems.

Hmmm interesting.
Is your SQL install on the same machine as your XP development install of AC7?

Yes, the SQL Server is on the same box. I tried a system restore (it said it couldn't restore, but maybe it did anyway)
I restarted everything and took a break and now everything is working. I think it was the settings in the DLink. The WAN in the DLink config now has settings it didn't have before.
Thanks for your help.
