Google Analytics Set Up - Big ?

Hi,
We have a custom site with custom headers and footers. We put in the Google Urchin # in the dashboard but it is not showing up on the pages.

For this to work, are we required to use one of the AC 7 Skins? It looks that way... does that mean we should just not use the Dashboard and instead manually insert the code into every pages' footer?

I think I see how to do that in the EDIT PAGE mode.

What is Best Practices for this? We want to enable this feature.

Google Analytics has two parts.
- Page Tracking
- E-Commerce Tracking.

If you want to use page tracking the all the pages you want to track should use the footer 'Footer With Google Analytics'.

For E-Commerce Tracking the Receipt.aspx page must use 'Footer With Google Analytics'.

If you have a custom footer, you can just paste this in your new footer

I think this is what we need to do. Just paste the ConLib into our custom footer on every page including the receipt page.

We will try that.

I had the same problem. It was easier for me to just add the conlib control to my existing site footer than go to every page and change its page layout to use the analytics footer.

I had the same problem.

How is it a problem that you can include the control in two manners, I don't understand how this is a problem?

Isn't that a feature?

Mike,

The problem lies in the confusion. An option in the page tracking setup allows for the entry of the urchin information. However it will never get used unless a change is made to the standard footer or every page is assigned the analytics footer. Ecommerce tracking will never get used unless the footer on receipt.aspx is modified.

There is no mention of either of these requirements on the page tracking screen - it simply says to enter your ID for tracking.

When a user like Don or myself sees a setup screen option field, we both would assume it will be actively used from the moment we populate the value. This is true for most every other setup screen option field.
When this isn't the case and additional steps are required for the option to be used, it would be helpful for the setup screen to advise the user.
