When can we expect RC3/Final Release of 7.0?
When can we expect RC3/Final Release of 7.0?
I am excited about AC7, but have read through the bug reports and am wondering if it is ready for prime time? My business requirements are going to require me to do some custom coding, but I don't want to have to do it all over again when RC3 or the final release of 7.0 comes out.
On top of that, am I missing something, or does AC7 no longer have the ability to export orders to QuickBooks, UPS WorldShip, etc?

The Data Client was pulled from download for further revisions and testing. Word on the street is it will be released at the same time RC3 is released, but don't hold me to that. Data Client will handle your import/export needs for Quickbooks...not sure about Worldship.
Nobody wants to reprogram changes if they don't have to do it. Even if you have the Final 7.0 release today, patches and updates you will want are going to come thereafter.
I've been live since Beta 2...before RC1 was released. If your expectation is a fully debugged storefront product, you should wait for v7.1 to be released. RC3/7.0 will be very strong, but it is a large base of code and there will still be bugs.
Is RC2 ready for "prime time". Depends on how much you want to code around the glitches and the payment gateways you want to use. Overall, the answer is probably "No". That's why it was deployed as a release candidate.
RC3 is ready for "prime time" - I've been testing it for almost a month now on my live store. Very solid compared to RC2 but still some polish was needed before full public release. Able really wants this to go well and they're taking the time to do just that.
When I played MMORPGs, we constantly complained about buggy game updates being released that just killed gameplay for weeks. Oh what we would have given to get a game update that the developers took their time to design, Q/A tested heavily and only had to push it out once.

Well I guess the only thing that tweaks me is the fact that you have RC3 but I was told I have to wait. I have a product I cant sell because of a error with the quantity discount setup.
I can see waiting to publish a fully tested update to a system that currently works fine but this is not the case. We are in beta..no reason to hold off so long on the updates.

Hi Everyone,
Joe is providing valuable beta testing service for AC7 and RC3 and for all of us AC 7 users. I believe that is why he has RC3 ( so that he can help analyze it and use it in a real live setting and provide managed feedback to the AC people). I suspect that AC is working on fixing some of the problems that Joe helped to uncover and that we are waiting for that.

Don't be tweaked. I've spent the last 3 weeks trying to help Able make extra sure there isn't an RC4.
You only have to upgrade to RC3 once, I have to do it twice

Arent we all providing very valuable beta testing for able? Like I said its not like it is a upgrade to a live version. Its a update to a beta version so IMHO no need to wait so long to push fixs/updates. This is of course just my opinion..I paid for the program and feel I have the right to express said opinion..no need for a heated debate.
I would love to have RC3 now, but I understand the reason for giving it out to select few for testing before allowing us all to have it.
I appreciate Joe taking the responsibility. I know I wouldn't want to be the one testing Beta software on my live site. Actually this goes out to all of you running AC7. I have been tempted, but I am trying to hold off and let you guys n girls brave the front line.

What Joe was given was something more like RC2.75.compunerdy wrote:Arent we all providing very valuable beta testing for able? Like I said its not like it is a upgrade to a live version. So many of you have provided valuable feedback, I couldn't count. I have said it before, AC7 is the best tested version we will ever produce. Software always has bugs, but we are working to do an above average job at eliminating them before we say "final".
Cheers,
Logan
