CV2/CVC QUESTION

Post by mkeith1 » Mon Mar 24, 2008 3:46 pm

Does Version 7 pass the CVC code (the 3 or 4 digit security code) on to the merchant. I'm curious, because we manually process cards, and are requested to have this code in order to secure against fraudulent card use.

It doesn't do that because the merchant isn't supposed to "store" that number. If you do real-time charge card processing as the customer checks out, it passes that to the payment processor.

We would not receive the Visa PABP certification, nor could you achieve PCI compliance, if we allowed that. The card issuers do not want you (or us) to ever store this value.

I can only recommend you consider processing cards online through one of our supported payment gateways. That way you can benefit from the card security code at time of purchase.
Cheers,

Ok, sorry about the confusion. I Just spoke with our payment processor, and voiced your conerns of being PABA... He recommended that we call or email the customer and obtain the CV2 number after we receive the order.
