How do I add an item to the cart with an external link?

Is this possible, in an HTML email for example, to have someone click the link, and they are transported to the store with the item in their cart?

Yes, this has been discussed before however I'm unable to find the post. If I remember correctly there is an example of this on the search results page.

Not sure what you mean? On the products that show up in the search, there is a Javascript dopostback for the add product to cart, but I believe it is not even referencing the product itself, but what product is in a certian position on the page
