Option and Optionchoice

Post by jdpatterson74 » Fri Aug 15, 2008 6:38 pm

I looked through the sample data and I would like to confirm this....

If I have 5 products, all with "Size" for a option, does each product have to have its own "Size" OptionID? Same question for OptionChoiceID? Price, pictures, sku are unchanged.

I am thinking I can use the same ID's since the data is the same.

Just checking, thanks.

Are you thinking of re-using the options by using the same ids by direct entry into the database? In Able 5, when I tried that, it would add multiple products to the basket. I was able to code that to where I had some fake products with options and assign those options to multiple real products by using a new field, then I coded the page to use the fake options for the products.

This would be a nice option. Storefront.net has an option to make a libray of of common options that can then be applied to individual products. However, like most features Storefront.net has, it does not work propperly. Maybe Able could write a similar feature into their software.

If you think that it will be a use full feature then you can create a pool in feature request form.
