Uploading Images on Admin Panel

I am trying to upload images for an item, but am receiving the following error screen.

These are the steps I took to get to this error page:

Select Item in Catalog > Select Images and Assets on left sidebar > Select Upload Image

What I've also noticed is if the pictures have already been re-sized and uploaded to the host via FTP, then I can select them by clicking Pick or Edit Images, and this works fine. But what I need is to use the Upload Image selector to re-size the main image for the site (icon, thumbnail and main size).

I have approx 2-5 images for all my products, and the main image that is used is always the first one. The alternate views are only seen if selected from the thumbnail viewer on the product detail page.

Any help on how to simplify the process of uploading and getting this part to work?

This doesn't answer your page error problem, but if you have a lot of images, you might want to use a batch picture resizer to do them before you upload them. Irfanview is free and it does that. There are also inexpensive utilities.
