Custom Search Form: Keywords not working properly

Post by alee337 » Wed Oct 15, 2008 6:17 pm

So now that we are close to launching our AC7.0 storefront, I'm starting to toy around with editing products and descriptions. One thing I've noticed is that the SEARCH KEYWORDS on the edit product page is not working on our site. For example, say we have an item called AMBER HAGEN CASHMERE HOODIE, BLACK. In the SEARCH KEYWORDS window, I enter the following keywords:

cashmir
hoody black
hoody
cashmare
hooded jacket
hooded sweater

Then I click SAVE. I then go on the user side and type in one of these keywords under my product search box. No results are found. One thing I have to mention is that my programmer has implemented a dfferent search engine than what was provided by AbleCommerce. Because we wanted the ability to search for products based off PRODUCT NAME and PRODUCT DESCRIPTION, he had to code this part a little differently. I'm not sure whether this affects the SEARCH KEYWORDS feature on the admin panel or not.

Could someone advise as to how we can fix this problem? Is it a matter of adding a line of code somewhere into my current search feature?

Thanks again!

Alan

Hello Alan,

Just have him add the keywords field to the list of fields being searched. Seems it's not now.
Thanks for your support

Without knowing specifically how your programmer modified the search feature, it's impossible for anyone to help you diagnose the search problem. If it's possible, have your programmer troubleshoot the issue or revert to the original Able code and test again.
