making unshippable products shippable.

can't make nonshippable products shippable, after customer has ordered them.

I mistakingly uploaded a bunch of items as non shippable. A customer ordered one of these items. In the order, I can't find a way to make the product "ship". If i add shipping costs to the order, i'm asked to pick an item in the order and "ship" it, but although an item shows in the summary, there isn't an item to "select" to ship. I've tried deleting the product from the order, then editing the product in the store and making it shippable, and re-adding it to the order. This didn't work. I tried deleting the product from the order, then deleting it from the store, and re-adding the product to the store, then adding this new product to the order, but that didn't work either. (I can create a new order for the customer, add the newly "shippable" product to the order. Of course this works), but then i have to explain what i did, to the customer (thank god for notes). What else can i do?

Another workaround (I haven't tried) could be that you define a special 0 value hidden product that is shippable. Add this product to the existing order... and then ship it... it would at least allow you to add the shipping charges.
