AbleCommerce 5.5 to 7.1 Migration

Hello All,

I am starting an AC 5.5 (ASP.NET 2.0) to AC 7.1 (ASP.NET 2.0) (latest version) migration project.

What is currently the best path to take for this upgrade / migration?

I don't care about site design, rather just porting over all of the customers, orders, products, etc. from the existing 5.5 site to the new 7.1 site.

The Able commerce dataport utility works great for importing from an Able 5 site. Export from the Able 5 site using that old utility. It has been out in beta in several versions and is almost final. The current one doesn't work with Able 7.1, so don't go with that version yet. You can get Able 7.0 SR1a which is build 10863. I'm not sure if it works with ESD products yet and there still might be a few quirks as far as not putting all the categories in their place. It would be good to spend the time on a trial run to see if it will do everything you want. The link to it is in one of the sticky topics on the Able 7 forum and the first page of the topic always has the most recent build.

Thanks for the reply Judy! Where can I get Able 7.0 SR1a? The one that I downloaded is 7.1, but I would rather get the version that works with the Data Port utility so that I can get this conversion done.

You will have to check with Able about getting it-- I don't know how if it wasn't where you could download it.

Install the Service Release 2 patch, this is a cumulative update and includes all the files from service release 1

Mazhar, I think the problem is that he doesn't have 7.0 to start with - his order download was for 7.1 probably.

That is correct. I do not have 7.0 to begin with. I really need to know what my options are here as I have deadlines to meet with my customer on this.

The situation is that I have an existing Able Commerce 5.5 site and I have purchased Able Commerce 7.0. I actually downloaded the 7.1 version though as it was what was offered. I understand there are issues when migrating from 5.5 to 7.1 where the Data Port application is concerned.

Would really appreciate some guidance here.

Able hasn't recommended upgrading to 7.1 unless you are going to need some international features. They recommend waiting for 7.2 or staying with 7.0 (there is content about this at help.ablecommerce.com). I think you would need to put a support ticket in with them and ask for the download link for 7.0.
