Reordering Kits
Is it possible for a user to reorder a kit? I've put together a kit on a demo site, "purchased" it, then went to My Account, pulled up my order, and was unable to reorder. Is this intended behavior? Am I missing an admin setting? Does the order have to be marked as shipped or processed or something?
I don't see this problem with non-kit products.

Re: Reordering Kits
Hello,
This is a known limitation in current version.
Basically what happens is that once an order is placed the basket-items are converted to order-items. Ideally all information about a basket-item should get copied over to an order-item. However because of the way we currently process orders few pieces of information are not retained. The 'kitting' details also are not retained. So on a reorder for an order that has kits we are unable reconstruct the kits. Kit items start showing up as separate items in the basket. This is the reason reorder feature of kitted products has been disabled.
Thanks

I would like to see this info saved as well. Not just for people who reorder but also so invoices etc can display the products in kit format.

Has there been an update to this or has anyone found a work-around? The ability for every product on our site to be reordered is an absolute must.Joe Simper wrote:Is this something that is intended to be resolved some time in the future? If so, any ETA? If not, can I get a list of the info that is not stored so I can make it happen? It's really important for my client to be able to reorder kits without requiring the user to rebuild it from scratch.
Anyone?
Please help.

Re: Reordering Kits
It's fixed in the new build- the reorder button doesn't show up if the product has a kit.

This is exactly what we don't want.jmestep wrote:It's fixed in the new build- the reorder button doesn't show up if the product has a kit.
What we need is for "EVERY" product on the website to have the Reorder button appear. This includes items that are created with kits. Most of our products are built using kits making this a very, very important issue for us.
Has anyone found a workaround for this? We desperately need the reorder function when we launch this new website.
What do we need to do to have the reorder button appear for kitted items?

I was looking for similar thing, having some code that could pre-select kit options.

Re: Reordering Kits
I'm just hoping that someone knows how to fix this "known limitation" so that if a customer orders a kitted item that they can return to us in a week or two and simply reorder by clicking on 1 button in their account. The customer does not need for us to explain that our shopping cart is limited in functionality. All they need to know is that they will have a pleasurable experience when shopping with us. We are doing every last little thing to make our site the easiest and best in our industry and this "limitation" is standing right in the path of what we are trying to achieve.

On the same topic. If you put a kit in your basket there is not way to edit the kit.

Judy, I'm not quite sure I get what you're saying here. You say it's fixed but yet the reorder button doesn't show up if the product has a kit? How is that fixed? I'm confused.jmestep wrote:It's fixed in the new build- the reorder button doesn't show up if the product has a kit.
I absolutely need for items with kits to have the reorder button appear. How can this be done?

I'm sorry, I was being facetious. Should have put a smiley after that.

Ok. Now I feel better. You really had me thinking "What the heck is she talking about?jmestep wrote:I'm sorry, I was being facetious. Should have put a smiley after that.

It's amazing how much a little smiley can convey, huh?

Anyway... Since this topic was just shot back up from April '08... does anyone know how to make this work? I'm desperate. This is a must have before we launch the new site.
