Add Payment Method Type

Can you add to the Payment Method Type ddl?

I assume that it is the Payment Method type, rather than the Payment Method name that the administrator enters into the Payment Method list that is sent to the Payment Gateway..

I need to add the Laser debit card to my payment methods - it's a debit card, and (if the assumption above is accurate) the card type needs to be sent to the payment gateway..
