Variants that change the price, hit or miss display

I've got products with 5 or more variants lists, each with between 4 and 12 choices. Most change the price. Some are drop-downs, some are swatches.

I notice that the displayed price sometimes changes as choices are selected, and sometimes not until the final choice is made.

Is there a way to force the price to update as each selection is made?
