Paying with Gift Certificate Problem

Currently there is not a way via the admin pages for our CSR's to accept a gift certifcate if a customer calls in with an order. For some reason that payment option is not available on the Place Order page (enhancement request).

Currently they are working around the problem by "loggin in" as the customer and finishing the order - a bit tidious but it works in most cases.

We do one ocassion have people that will come in and make a purchase and wants to use a gift certicate and pay the balance with cash or a check. In these cases we are really hurting, because now we can not loggin as the user and finish the purchase, because users obviously are not allowed to pay via cash or check when placing an order themselves.

I really need to be able to pay for an order via gift cert. on the admin pages.

Does anyone know a better way to handle this? I did try to put the GiftCertificatePayment user control on the PlaceOrder page, but that did not work very well (it did not seem to apply the gift certificate to the order properly.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the link, but I ran into a couple of problems:

1) The code appears to have changed since that thread was created.
- The first change given (to put payment choice in the list) is now in a user control, I did
- The second part (getting the gift cert on the invoice) is different also, I could not find the code to change

2) When testing this it appears that adding a gift certificate to the order it does not update balance of the gift card.
- Could this possibly be related to the other code changes?
