E-mail Address as Username

Can someone tell me why the e-mail address functions as the username? Is there way around it?

7.0.2 doesn't require Email address for user name. You can edit some user name to something else from Email address and then use that user name login. If you want your users to have user name other Email address then you can edit ConLib/RegisterDialog and ConLib/LoginDialog controls to remove Email validation.
