Empty basket BIG problem

Post by ablegeek » Wed Sep 24, 2008 12:41 pm

We have this big problem with our AbleCommerce for some days now and I haven't been able to find an answer for it. Practically any new customer that is trying to place an order to our web site gets and Your basket is empty message.

More exactly if you go for the first time to my web site to a product page and click on the "Add to basket" then on the "Checkout now" button it takes you to the Basket.aspx saying Your basket is empty even though you've actually added an item to the basket.

If you go back to the same product page and repeat the process described above then it works and continues with the checkout process..

I have the latest version:
VERSION: 7.0
BUILD: 10152

This is a huge problem for us since any new customer that is trying to check out will get the empty basket screen.

Could you please help?

Thank you!

Well it seems to be a problem with the redirect when is switching from a insecure page (like the product page) to the secure SSL checkout pages that's when is loosing the variables.

Sounds like a cookie problem on the server side.

I am having the same issue with a user. The user is adding an item to her basket. The item shows in the right panel but when she goes to check out or just to view the basket items the basket is empty.

She has the following configuration:
Browser: IE 6.0
OS: Windows XP Professional
Security: Medium

AbleCommerce configuration is as follows:
Version: 7.0
BUILD: 9879

Server Configuration:
OS: Windows Server 2003 R2, Service Pack 2
SSL: Not enabled.

I have no issue on my machine using IE 6.0 or 7.0. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Upgrade. You're 7 versions behind.

Any other suggestions. We have a lot of custom code.

It may be something introduced due to customization work.

Looking at the posts from Wed Sep 24, 2008, no resolution was provided. I'm wondering if the underlying cause of the issue initially reported was ever found? If so, what was it? That would be a big help in diagnosing this issue. It may be an issue with the configuration of the one compter we are using for testing, or it may be a larger issue. Input on the issue originally reported would be a big help.

Thanks,

I had the user try and duplicate the issue on a test site on the AbleCommerce server at http://ac7.ablecommerce.com/700020707288. She had the same issue. She would add an item to her cart, when she would then go and check out the basket would be empty.

Based on this experience using another instance of AbleCommerce with the same user and browser I am assuming that it is not an issue with the modifications I have done to AbleCommerce.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks,

I'd guess that the site user in question has cookies turned off in their browser.

Thank you!!! That was the issue. I checked her machine and the under Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced the browser was set to:
1. Override automatic cookie handling was checked
2. Block First-party cookies was selected
3. Block Third-party cookies was selected
4. Always Allow Session Cookies was unchecked.

All I needed to do was to check "Always Allow Session Cookies"

Thanks,
