Confused about 7.0.2 to 7.0.3 upgrade path

Post by ZLA » Thu Jun 04, 2009 8:55 am

In the upgrade information located at http://help.ablecommerce.com/index.htm# ... _7.0.3.htm, it says
Existing AbleCommerce 7.0.2 installs: The upgrade to AbleCommerce 7.0.3 includes all changes made since AbleCommerce 7.0.0 final build 9879. If you are already running AbleCommerce 7.0.2 build 11659, you can still upgrade to AbleCommerce 7.0.3, but you will need to complete only the post-upgrade tasks noted below.
The post-upgrade tasks noted below link says you only need to complete steps 3 through 7. I assume this meant you just skip post upgrade steps 1 and 2 but you still have to perform all other pre-upgrade tasks. True?

Yes, complete the post upgrade steps as they apply to you.

Just to clarify -

STEP 1) - Post Upgrade Tasks from 7.0.1

Complete the post-upgrade tasks for version 7.0.1 only if you are running AbleCommerce 7.0.0.

STEP 2) - Post Upgrade Tasks from 7.0.2

Complete the post-upgrade tasks for version 7.0.2 only if you are running AbleCommerce 7.0.1.

If you are upgrading from AbleCommerce 7.0.2 (build 11659) begin at STEP 3)

I was confused about this too. I had build 11659 so I installed ac_7_0_2_stable_upgrade_b11659 thinking that I would then have 7.0.3.

From what you are saying now, I should have installed ac_7_0_3_stable_upgrade_b12458 ?

Does this make more sense?
If you are running AbleCommerce 7.0.2 build 11659, you will need to complete only the post-upgrade tasks noted below after upgrading to AbleCommerce 7.0.3.
I'll see that this gets changed...

ZLA- don't feel bad. Two of the rest of us didn't read it clearly either.

Thanks for the sentiment Judy. By the way, because of your and other's posts, I've discovered BeyondCompare. BC Rocks:!: I can't believe I've been doing updates semi-manually for so long. (Although in my defense, one of my clients has a very secure server which only permits access to the root ftp directory which precludes Beyond Compare.)

I've also discovered ApexSQL's Data Diff and Diff tools which are much stronger than DataPort but are not as focused. The main difference are the primary keys. Dataport will adjust them while DataDiff would just overwrite in its default behavior. But DataDiff can output to a script for manual adjustment first.

Regards.
