Digital Downloads: Does anybody use for 100mb Downloads?

Post by louderback » Wed Jan 14, 2009 4:20 am

I want to offer zipped picture packages on my cart, the size for this download is around 100mb. Does anybody else use Able for Digital Downloading; how does it work and are you able to download files this large and have you've been happy with the cart + completion and payment?

Anything I can learn about digital downloads would be very helpful.

Thanks'
Edward

I have been able to download files that large in testing. I have also placed test orders and then fulfilled the order manually and the procedure worked fine.

In our older AC55 version we had trouble with files that large because of the method used to send them to the browser. The old version was memory intensive for large files. For the AC7 version, we resolved that problem along with some others. The new version also supports resumable downloads. You are welcome to download a trial and test this out for yourself - it is functional in the eval.
Cheers,
Logan

is there any problems setting it up for downloading files and after the person pays, does it change the download link every time to protect against "hot linking?"

Thanks' :)

A person can't get to the download link unless they are logged on as the customer. Then the download limit would come into play.
