Can I give variable percentage commission to an affiliate?

I wish to be able to give variable percentage commission to an affiliate depending on the products purchased rather than applying one global commission rate on all possible purchases. Not all my margins give the same scope for commission and some do. Currently I am confined to awarding the lowest possible amount on ALL sales but there are some products that I could be more generous with and would like to. So it would be great if I could somehow vary the amount offered to my Affiliates.

I already have a global rate that I can apply to ALL product sales for a specific Affiliate, I am looking for a way to assign product specific commissions too

Example of the challenge: Affiliate A (Global 5% on net sales), Affiliate B (Global 20% on net sales) Affiliate C (Product A = 20% + Product B = 7.5% and Product C = 2.5% on net sales…the rest on 5%).

I don't see an easy way to do this without customization. A work around might be to create the same affiliate multiple times with different attributes. That could get messy though.
