Buy 3 of x get y free

Does anyone know if AC allows for this type of promotion? I thought it did but now I can't find how to do it.

You should be able to use a quantity Volume Discounts for this. You'll need to set the discount scope to both products. Then enable the discount for the product that needs to be purchased to get the free product.

Thanks again for the info. I have read through all of this but I must be an idiot because I am not figuring out how to do this. Maybe I should clarify what the client really wants. They want the customer to be able to enter 3 of product a to their cart. Then enter a coupon code at checkout and product b appears in their order with a cost of $0.00 (it can say the original price and then the discounted price if it has to). The other option is that as soon as the person adds 3 of product a to their cart, product b is also added to the cart with a price of $0.00. Are the volume discounts still the way to go?
