Changing IP address with web host

Post by amgym-jt » Tue Feb 22, 2011 9:06 am

I need to upgrade the hosting plan for my web site. My web host has stated that it will be a seamless process, but that my IP address WILL change. Will this affect the functionality of my AbleCommerce store at all? My store is found here: http://www.american-gymnast.com/shop

Changing your site IP address should not affect any of the functionality or SEO ranking of your site. However if the service upgrade requires physical site root folder change
you would need to reenter AbleCommerce site license and update feeds paths in the database.

thanks for the reply. i am not changing the folder AC is located in.

i am most concerned with whether the license for AC is tied to the ip address or to the actual domain name of our site?

Both. See if they can tell you what your new IP will be before they transition you. That way you can have the new license code ready to light up when they pull the trigger.

Just make sure Able customer service knows the old code is still in use and will transition on such-and-such date.
