We have Gold R4 up and running, but would like to move to R6 for its new features.
We tried the R4 to R5 to R6 upgrade, but this failed.
So we figured we'd just do a Full R6 fresh install and use the R4 database. However, the Installation process only allows an existing database to be used if it's AC7. When we specify the R4 DB, the Install process tells us that the database is invalid.
Is there any way around this?

Re: Fresh R6 install with a R4 database
We just did an R4 to R6 this week and in the past I had run a page in the install folder to do the upgrade, but on this one we didn't have to do that. Once we got the R6 files ready to go, we switched the site to use those files and the live database and it was magic. Here is what happened, like Able said on the help site and it worked:
When you login to the merchant administration for the first time, the database will be upgraded automatically.

Re: Fresh R6 install with a R4 database
Finally getting back to this.
Here's what we did:
installed R6 with an empty new database
backed up the R4 database and then copied it over the new R6 database
Now when we start R6, we get an error: "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid column name 'Title'. Invalid column name 'HtmlHead'."
I thought this is what Judy said to do, but apologies if I misunderstood.
All help is appreciated.

Re: Fresh R6 install with a R4 database
You should hook your R6 site files up to your R4 database then open the site in admin view. It will update your database to R6 format, including adding the htmlhead field.
