Unable to Edit shipping after order completed

We have found that we are not able to edit shipment and ad a tracking number after the order is complete. We can put a tracking number in while processing but not after.

When you click the SHIP button, the tracking field should be updated. This action also triggers the Shipment email to be sent. I don't think you can put this information in after the shipment is processed, unless you use the Order Notes.

It was allowed before we upgraded to Gold. Dont know why it would be disallowed since the option is there to edit. It allows you to click edit, pick a method, insert the tracking number but it does not take.

I just tested this on a clean R6 build and it still works. Do you want to explain the exact steps you are taking?

I clicked the SHIP button. Added a tracking number. Clicked the EDIT button from the Shipments page.
This brings up the Edit Shipment form where the address details can be changed. The tracking number field is also available.
I made changes to the tracking number, and clicked the SAVE and CLOSE button.

Thats what I do. The page closes but the tracking number is not saved. Now i can change anything else and that field is saved. The problem is when I try to put a tracking number in. That does not get saved. If i try to edit an existing tracking number it works. The problem is when there is no tracking number, it will not let us add one in the edit mode. Have you tried to ad a tracking number using edit where there wasnt a tracking number before?

I think it is a issue with the display options on the shipments page..

I took a order and marked it as shipped with no options. When I went to the shipments page there was no place showing "tracking number" so I clicked edit and tried to add one like chuck and when clicked save..nothing. I tried on another order that had been marked as completed but with no tracking number but it showed the tracking number field on the page and I could add one to that no problem. It seems to be a issue with the tracking number field not showing unless a certain order status is met? I would peak at the code but no time atm.

Ok, I can reproduce it now. The trick is to make sure the tracking field is blank to begin with. When you do that, then the edit shipment/tracking number does not save.

I reported it as a bug. (AC8-2454)

If I can get the code change, I will post it here.

I would make it so the "tracking number" text always shows as well. It makes it clearer that there is no tracking number currently.
