we're on AbleCommerce Gold R5.
Under payment account data storage, enable credit card storage is unchecked. and number of days is 0.
when I go to an order payments tab for a particular order and go to issue refund form, "method" would show "Method name - xxxx" with last 4 digits of credit card. However, for orders we received in last 3 days, this method is showing as "Method name - " (doesn't show 4 digit number).
However, when i open an older order and go to this form, last 4 numbers does show up for that order.
I've tested this with Authorize.net gateway
One of the personnel notified that 3 days ago, "enable credit card storage" was checked, saved and unchecked/saved after few minutes.
How can I resolve this issue?

It sounds like someone had disabled the credit card storage option 3 days ago. If you want to do any post-order processing through AbleCommerce, then you need to enable the option to store credit cards. The number of days to store will depend on how long you allow refunds or order changes after one has been placed.
You can always issue the refund directly from Authorize.net and then manually edit the order to make an adjustment in AbleCommerce.
If you are storing credit cards, be sure that you have created encryption keys in use. This is done through the Configure > Security > Encryption Key menu.

I don't think you need to enable the option to store credit card information to make the last 4 digits appear on the refund page. Katie, does it depend on the Gateway used? I have R5, using CyberSource for the gateway, with the option to store credit card numbers disabled and number of days = 0. The last 4 digits still show up on the refund page, and the refund is processed correctly. I have verified that the credit card number is not being stored in the database by querying the table in SSMS. The last 4 digits are stored with the Payment object as the ReferenceNumber property.
Unfortunately for the OP, I don't know what would cause them to stop showing up or how to fix it.
