Anonymous User question

Post by bugman » Mon Sep 15, 2014 12:40 pm

This is probably a silly question, but... is there any way an anonymous user can review their order history?

I expect the answer to be "NO", but since I can see in Order Manager that an "anonymous user email address" is created during the checkout process and the order data IS actually saved for anonymous user orders, it made me wonder if there WAS any way they could come back & find their old orders.

(Safer to ask than to "assume", right?).
Thanks!

Once their checkout session is over, they will not be able to login to view their orders. Only a registered user account can do that. However, there is nothing preventing you from creating an account for them. You would just need to enter a valid email address (username) and password.

You can also disable the Guest Checkout feature if it's not something you want to hassle with.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions or if you need clarification on something.

Thanks for the super quick response Katie!

Our new site has been live for about 2 weeks now. In looking at some of the data, I see that we've had 440 orders placed so far, but we have 559 people in our main customer group (Consumers). A dozen or two of those 559 are prob me, a couple of my employees, and some of the developer's staff, but... there's definitely 75+ MORE USERS than there are ORDERS.

That prompted me to look at Abandoned Baskets, and it shows a total of 568 abandoned baskets since 9/1/14. Again, I imagine quite a few are me doing test orders - maybe even 100 or so - but... that would leave over 450 that must have been real "almost orders". ???

Any thoughts on how my number of customers can be so much greater than my number of invoices, or why we might have that number of abandoned baskets? Seems like a lot to me....
Thanks!
