Gold R9 category link objects not searchable

In Gold R9, the search does not include catalog Link objects. It only includes products.

Is this intentional? Is there a way to modify (without full source) search so it includes catalog link object name/description?

There is no simple way to accomplish this without back end source code apart from writing your custom search function.

Is it planned at all? The Link feature seems rather weak if they will never appear in search results.

We've also had requests to make webpages searchable. I think we certainly need to improve the search features, but we also need to add some options so merchants will have more control over what content is being searched. A small merchant who sells a few hundred products will want quite different search options than one who sells 100,000 products.

It would take some major re-working of the search code which is used everywhere.

Yea I think it's been this way for 8 years, so it's not like it comes across my desk every day either.

Everything is so well integrated these days, it's easy to assume all that stuff ties together too
