I asked UPS for clarification on whether it is still recommended to use XpciVersion 1.0, even though it works either way now, and this was the response:
That was just a temporary change to adjust to the issue that was occurring on our back end; as the issue has been resolved, you can feel free to switch back to 1.0001.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll revert my clients temporary fix and we'll see if they're ok as well. Thanks so much for the joint effort here, really helps having someone to share the experiences !

Yeah, I wish I thought to ask for clarification when I got that first response from them about whether they were expecting to fix the problem on their end or if the XpciVersion change in the request WAS the official fix.

Jay,

We have you to thank. It could have been a lot worse, especially if we had already finished making patches and distributed those to all of our customers. Now, that would have been a mess....

It's unfortunate that these "big" companies don't have better internal communications. I think that would have save us all a lot of time and frustration.

ok we have reverted manual fixes on my client today. So far, it's working fine with business addresses.

Client will continue to monitor for the next week or so.
